Student Union and Electoral Awareness Activities

Sudhiranjan Lahiri Mahavidyalaya does not have an elected student union body. However, the institution actively encourages all students to express their views freely and independently in an inclusive academic environment. The college believes in fostering a culture of dialogue and critical thinking, and regularly organizes political debates and open discussions to promote democratic values and civic awareness.

In alignment with this vision, the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of the college—coordinated by the Department of Political Science—plays a pivotal role in educating students about the importance of democratic participation. The club conducts awareness campaigns, interactive sessions, and outreach programs to promote student engagement in electoral processes.

Special drives are organized to encourage participation in State Assembly and Parliamentary elections, focusing on voter registration, the ethical value of voting, and the significance of informed electoral choices. Through these efforts, the college seeks to empower students as responsible citizens of a democratic society.
