Membership

Our Students, Faculties, NTS Staff, Ex-students and any society member who wants to be use our library can be a member and use the library. Library fee for students is of Rs 75.00 for three years UG Course and Rs. 100.00 for four years UG Courses and to be collect at a time. There is no membership fee for permanent teacher, SACT and non-teaching staff of our college. But the Govt. unapproved guest and contractual teachers are required to deposit of Rs. 1000.00 as caution money but no need to deposit any caution money for the students.  Any ex-students and society members can be a member of this library to deposit Rs. 100.00 (one hundred only) per year as membership fee but they also required to deposit another Rs. 1000.00 (one thousand only) or required to deposit double amount (in some cases) than the borrowing documents. Retaining books for more than the stipulated period is liable for a fine of Rs. 1.00 /day/book.

General Rules And Regulations

1(a) Readers' or borrowers' cards or other identity records are to be shown, if demanded, at the time of entering into the Library or whenever asked for in the Library.

(b) Undesirable or unauthorized persons shall have no access to the Library and if found in the Library they shall be liable to expulsion from the Library by the College Librarian.

  1. While in the Library, all persons shall observe all basic and elementary principles of Library ethics, obey the rules and procedures of the Library, and submit to discipline enforced by the College authority /Librarian.

3(a). Any Conversation, talking, sleeping, smoking and loitering is not allowed in the Library. Use of Mobile Phones is not allowed within the Library premises.

3(b) No reader shall bring any non-member into the Library, nor shall lend, even temporarily, library books borrowed by him to others.

3(c) Without obtaining special permission from the College Librarian, any non member shall enter the   Stack-room or any part of the Library which is not ordinarily open to him.

  1.  Persons detected to be acting in contravention to Rules of the Library shall be liable to be deprived of the facilities of the Lending and Reading Room temporarily or permanently.
  2.  No reader who has been thus excluded from the privileges of the Library shall not be allowed to use the Reading Rooms or to borrow books unless and until such person be reinstated by the Library Committee.

6(a). At the time of entering the library all personal belongings, such as attaché cases, brief cases, satchels, bags ,umbrellas, etc, books not belonging to the College Library and books though borrowed from the Library but not meant to be returned to the Library, shall be deposited at the Property Counter at the entrance to the Library.

6(b) Though for the period of deposit all possible care will be taken for the safe custody of the article or articles deposited, the administration does not accept any responsibility for any damage or loss of the same. It is advisable not to bring valuable things to the Library and deposit them at the Property Counter. 

6(c) Books belonging to the College Library may be brought into the Library only when they are meant to be returned at the Library Counter

6(d) Facilities provided for depositing personal belongings, etc. at the Library can be enjoyed only for the period for which the depositor will be actually required to remain within the Library and any article or articles deposited at the Property Counter at the entrance to the Library must be taken back as soon as the depositor leaves the Library. Articles deposited must in all cases be taken back before the Library is closed for the day. Persons misusing the facilities are liable to be refused such facilities in future

  1. Every member of the Library shall be responsible for the safe custody of any Library Books borrowed by him for study in the Library Reading Room or for use at home.

8(a). Library books issued for use in the Reading Room shall not be taken out of the section without prior permission of the College Librarian. If a reader violet this rule, he or she must penalized by a charge of Rs. 50 per book per day.

8(b). Library books shall never be left unattended on the table in the Reading Room. The borrower shall be held responsible for loss, mutilation or damage, if any, while the book stands issued on his account.

  1. Persons held responsible for loss, damage, defacement or mutilation of books shall be liable   to compensate the library in such way as may be determined by the Library Committee.

10(a) At the time of borrowing a book either for use in the Library Reading Room or for use at home, every borrower is expected to examine it carefully and bring to the notice of the Officer-in-Charge of the issue-counter, cases of mutilation, defacement or damage, if any, immediately; otherwise if any mutilation, defacement or damage be detected subsequently, the person to whom the book was issued last will be held responsible for such damage, defacement or mutilation.

10(b) In case of mutilation, damage, defacement or loss of Library Books, the College Librarian may, pending the final decision of the Library Committee, wholly or partially suspend the Library privileges allowable to a person who is held responsible or is suspected to be responsible for the offence.

  1. Books kept on a 'reserved table' are not to be handled or removed by readers other than the person to whom the table has been assigned and by whom the books have been borrowed.
  2. Readers and borrowers must register their permanent address at the office of the College Librarian and always notify the office, of any change, in writing.
  3. Subject to the terms and conditions that may be determined by the Library Committee from time to time, membership of the College Central Library for the purpose of enjoying facilities of its Reading Room is open to (i) Regular students of the College (ii) College teachers attached to various departments of teaching; (iii) College non-teaching staffs(iv) Candidates who have dropped out, i.e., candidates who completed the final course in any subject in the College classes but have not appeared at the examination, it being provided that such persons will be allowed the facilities of the Reading Room only not lending until the examination next to the one at which they were due to appear after completion of their final course is over
  4. Ordinarily not more than 2 volumes at a time will be allowed to be retained by a borrower for use in the Reading Rooms and such volumes are to be returned in the course of a day.
  5. Subject to the terms and conditions that may further be determined by the Library Committee from time to time, facilities of borrowing books from the College Library will be extended to the  following categories of persons for their own use under terms and conditions shown against each provided they have duly enrolled themselves as members of the College Library by filling up the prescribed form:

(i) Regular students of the Library, ordinarily be, under the usual procedure, allowed to borrow not more than 2 volumes  at a time for  a period of 15 days.

(ii) Full time teachers of various departments of the College will be allowed the facilities of borrowing 20 books for 90 days

(iii) Part time teachers of various departments of the College will be allowed the facilities of borrowing 10 books for 90 days.

  • Non teaching staffs of the College will be allowed the facilities of borrowing 8 books for 90 days.
  • (v) At every category another same days renewal facilities are also available on request but books on loan with members of the library under any category can be recalled by the College Librarian at any time.

16(a) Library cards are not transferable.

(b) In case of loss of a Library Card, a duplicate one may be issued against his or her GD Number of nearest Police Station and at the discretion of the College Librarian, for which 1st time a fee of Rs 10 per card will have to be paid. Another duplicate Library Card for the Students be issued against a charge of Rs.100/- per card. Thereafter no duplicate card shall be issued.

  1. Reserved seats or tables in the Reading Hall of the Library, according to their availability, may be allotted, under rules framed or to be framed from time to time by the Library Committee for the purpose, by the College Librarian to the members of the Library and to other special readers.
  2. Books, periodicals, e-journals, electronic media and various kinds of library materials in different subjects are to be purchased for different departments by the College Authority on the advice of the Heads of the concerned Departments within the budget allocation.
  3. Reference books, periodicals, electronic media and other publications of general or common interest and of popular demand and books for the head “General” are to be purchased by the authority within the budget allocation and other grant for the purpose.
  4. The students should deposit all their Library fees and fines at the College cash counter.
  5. Departmental Libraries and Book Bank of the College must function strictly in accordance with the rules of the College Library. Hence no Departmental Library and Book Bank would be allowed to change any rule of the College Library including the matter of issuance of more number of books to any user to the Departmental Library and Book Bank without the permission of the Library Committee as ratified by the GB.
  6. The Library Rules framed herein above may, from time to time, be changed, altered, and amended, or new rules may be added by the Library Committee, and that will be effective and binding to all concerned when the relevant proceedings of the Library Committee are approved by the GB.

 

Library Fees and other Charges at a Glance:

  1. Overdue charges for Students after the due date @ Re 1.00 per day/per volume.
  2. Lost Library Cards –1st time Rs 10 per card. Another duplicate card for Students be issued against a charge of Rs 50 per card. Thereafter no duplicate card shall be issued.
  3. Library fee for students –a non-refundable fee of Rs 75 for three year and Rs. 100.00 of four years student to be collect at the time of admission.
  4. UGC Net, N-LIST and Career Guidance fees for outside students– a non-refundable Rs 100 per year per card.
  5. Temporary use by ex-students -- Rs 100 for 3 months (only reading outside users/ private candidates facilities) for M.A./M.Sc./M. Com /Service Exam., and Dropped candidates.

 

Limits of Lending:

  • For Students: 2 for 15 days
  • For Permanent Teachers: 20 for 90 days
  • For SACT and Guest: 10 for 90 days
  • For Non Teaching Staff: 8 for 90 days
  • For External or Society members: 2 for15 days

Library Hours:

The Central Library remains open from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm on Monday to Saturday in a week (except holidays).

Every year, the Institute Library adds near about hundreds of volumes to its collection, which will support to reading, learning and research of the library members. Besides a good number of books are also received from the whole-time teachers after completion of their UGC sponsored MRP. Apart from this your involvement in document selection process will help us immensely.
